Once a month, on a Tuesday evening, visitors can enjoy a free classical music concert on the mezzanine of Hala Koszyki. The events feature outstanding musicians - soloists, duos and trios - performing in intriguing combinations and presenting diverse repertoire, not always strictly classical. The programme features the sounds of the piano and violin, as well as the beauty of the human voice.

October-November 2026 schedule:

20 October, 8:00 PM - The Other Wieniawski | Zofia Łałak

24 November, 8:00 PM - PianophonicSEXTET

The concerts are free of charge and take place on level +1 (mezzanine) of Hala Koszyki in Warsaw (63 Koszykowa Street).

“Klasyka na Koszykach” is a regular series of free classical music concerts held in a commercial space at Hala Koszyki in Warsaw since 2017. It is the first project of the Julian Cochran Foundation to move beyond the established conventions and stereotypes associated with performing classical music exclusively in concert halls. To date, more than 250 concerts have been held, reaching an audience of over 160,000 people (130,000 online viewers and an additional 30,000 attendees at Hala Koszyki). In 2019, the project was nominated for the Warsaw Cultural Education Award, and in 2020 it received a nomination in the “Retail Awards 2020” competition in the category “CSR Activities and Strategy of the Retail Property of the Year”, organized by the Polish Council of Shopping Centers. Since the 3rd edition, the National Philharmonic has been the Honorary Partner of the series.

International
Cochran

Piano Competition

The world’s first international piano competition conducted entirely online, launched in 2014. The project was inspired by the music of Australian composer Julian Cochran.

To date, five editions of the competition have been held, with more than 600 pianists from around the world taking part. The competition’s philosophy redefines the balance between competition and long-term artistic development.

There is no age limit for participants. The winner of the 3rd edition, Japanese pianist Yukiko Hinami, was 49 years old when the results were announced and would not have been eligible to participate in many other piano competitions due to commonly imposed age limits, which significantly restrict the career paths of many artists.

In recent years, the jury has included outstanding pianists such as Kevin Kenner, Krzysztof Jabłoński, Dina Yoffe and Tobias Koch.

REGISTRATION for the 2023 International Cochran Piano Competition is CLOSED.

InstagramTakeover (#instagramoprzejęcie) is a series in which our friends from the world of art and business take over our Instagram Account. The project was launched during the spring lockdown. Artists invite viewers to their homes, become influencers and break the usual stereotypes regarding the perception of classical musicians.

In November 2020, along with 6 other institutions from Eastern European countries, the project was qualified for the "Well done" competition at the FOROOM conference.

Fundusz Wsparcia
